Mara Espi Colazo
Nothing prepared Mara more for a life of service and advocacy than watching her own child be excluded and struggle. Mara is supportive, compassionate, and giving by nature. After swimming through a sea of red tape and mountains of paperwork, Mara turned to At Home Your Way to assist her in navigating and obtaining all the best services that Virginia has to offer. She found invaluable resources and support that gave her strength during the storms, and decided to pay it forward by joining AHYW in their mission to empower families.
Ivy is a disability rights advocate and has participated in many self-advocacy training courses, including Partners In Policy-making and various advocacy groups at Independent Living Centers. She has many years of experience managing personal care attendants and is a wealth of knowledge on the subject.
Maria has worked in the mental health field since 2004. She has worked in different positions in those years, but has maintained an affinity for helping those who cannot help themselves. She has used her inquisitive and compassionate nature to educate individuals on their rights and available services, thus enabling people to live the best life possible. She has experience in supported employment, group therapy, recreational therapy, as well as extensive experience dealing with mentally ill children in crisis. She is very excited to coordinate with At Home Your Way to ensure that individuals receive the best service facilitation available. She is self-motivated to empower those with disabilities to thrive.
