Jennifer is the proud mother of three beautiful children. Her middle son has multiple diagnoses including Autism and ADHD among others. Her youngest son also has ADHD and her daughter suffers from multiple unexplained bone fractures and sprains.
Jennifer has an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and has worked for the past 11 years as an Assistant Director at a childcare center. Throughout the journey of discovering the waiver system for her oldest son, she found a joy and love of helping others navigate the system as well. She was able to pass on this knowledge to families who were under her care at the child care center. Jennifer is so excited to be a part of the At Home Your Way team so she can provide this much needed support to other families.
Sandra has an Associate's in Human Services and is now pursuing her Bachelor’s in Psychology. She has a passion for teaching adults and children with mental and physical challenges. Sandra has experience working in the mental health field in the education system, as well as adult/children day support programs. Sandra’s hobbies include music, art, and the great outdoors. She is delighted to join the At Home Your Way team so that she may use her set of skills helping individuals and families obtain needed care.
Originally from New Jersey, Turquoise has been a Virginia resident since 2013. She currently resides in the Pasture Point Historic District of Hampton, VA with her husband, son, and daughter.
Turquoise's experience with the disability community started in 2007, when she worked as direct care staff at a state-funded Developmental Center for Women. This lead her to obtain her CNA license which provided the opportunity to venture into hospitals and home health settings, providing her experience with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, and much more. Turquoise decided she wanted to be a more vocal advocate for the individuals she provided for by acquiring a degree in Human Services. She then became an In-Home Support Coordinator and a Sponsored Residential Program Coordinator.
In her spare time, Turquoise curates culinary experiences for her friends and family. In 2019, she appeared on the Hampton Roads Show: Home Chef Takeover competition.
Kim was born in the Shenandoah Valley, but raised in Virginia Beach. She is the proud mom of one daughter who is now a freshman in college. Kim has worked in Human Services for more than 15 years, where she has worked with families and children dealing with behavioral conditions. She has a heart and passion for helping others and knows firsthand how important the available waivers are for families.
Mariana is originally from Los Angeles, but moved to Norfolk in 2009. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University in Human Services with a minor in Social Welfare. She is currently pursuing her MSW at Saint Leo University.
Mariana has three young children and loves volunteering at their elementary school. She has been a military spouse for over 10 years and has served in positions connecting military families to resources within their community.
Mariana has experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as a support assistant and working as a respite care provider for children with special needs. She loves being able to work with people and focuses on using their strengths to help them achieve their goals.
Mariana is excited to work with At Home Your Way, and is passionate about advocating for people in need. She hopes to use her bilingual skills to connect more families to resources.
Telia was born and raised in Queens, New York. She has been a military surviving spouse since 2005 and resides in Hampton, VA. She has an Associate's in Occupational Studies, for which she majored in Office Technologies and minored in Psychology. Telia has worked as a Therapeutic Counselor and Respite Parent/Counselor for a course of six years.
Telia is the proud mother of two children, both whom have special needs. Her oldest daughter was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder at eighteen years old and is currently undergoing an evaluation for Schizophrenia. Her daughter’s disorder is currently stable, however, and she is now a campus student at Norfolk State University with special accommodations. Telia's youngest son has been diagnosed with Autism since the age of four.
Since learning about her children’s diagnoses, Telia has advocated for their rights to be heard and supported them in receiving the best medical treatment and education available. Through her experience advocating for her children, she has gained the ability to empathize and be compassionate in knowing the challenges families in need face. Moreover, being part of At Home Your Way has given Telia the opportunity to work with families and help render services they need to live a quality life.
Patricia is a native of Norfolk, Virginia. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Human Service Counseling, as well as a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Patricia loves children and helping others in any way that she can. She feels that it is truly her purpose in life to be a blessing to others. Having worked with children with disabilities in a group home setting and having a godson who has Autism, Patricia knows firsthand the challenges and obstacles families face. When she saw how much of a blessing At Home Your Way was for her godson and his family, she knew that she wanted to be a part of this incredible organization.
Heather was born and raised in upstate New York. She moved to Virginia in 2012 with her two daughters, Haley and Madison. Heather is an active duty Navy Chief Petty officer and has served for 18 years. She has held many leadership, mentorship, and counseling positions. She is also very familiar with military programs such as EFM, TEMP, Tricare Prime and Standard Benefits.
A 2014 graduate of Old Dominion University, Heather received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. As a Service Facilitator, Heather wants to be able to use her knowledge and experience in order to provide healthcare benefit information, become an advocate for At Home Your Way families, and improve the lives of those within her community.
Antonio is a native of upstate New York, but has lived in Virginia Beach since 2000. He and his wife, Crystal, are the parents of two beautiful children, Gisella and Giovanni. Giovanni, a prenatal diagnosis for Trisomy 21 has forever changed their lives.
Crystal and Antonio are the founders of Giovanni’s 21 Gifts, a Non-Profit organization that delivers gift baskets to new moms anytime a child in Hampton Roads, VA is born with Down Syndrome. Giovanni opened their eyes to a new world, and Antonio wanted to find a way to give back, so he joined the At Home Your Way team.
A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, as well as an active duty Naval Officer, Antonio is very familiar with military programs, such as EFM, Tricare Prime, and Standard Benefits. Antonio's son, Giovanni, benefits personally from the EDCD Medicaid Waiver, allowing Antonio to educate others on the process and offer assistance to new families as they start their new journey.
Kori was born and raised in Norfolk, VA and currently resides in Virginia Beach. She is the mother of one son and six daughters. Kori’s daughter, Angel, was born with Septo-Optic Dysplasia and is wheelchair-bound. It is through caring for Angel that Kori realized she needed to be her daughter's biggest advocate. Thus, her quest for knowledge, understanding, and resources for Angel began.
In addition to being a mom and advocate for her daughter, Kori is also a certified Housing and Financial Counselor and a nationally certified Credit Counselor. She has a wealth of experience assisting individuals and families establish financial goals through specialized training to apply for home loans, as well as address any financial barriers that could negatively impact their housing status. Kori has also managed grant requirements and implementation for previous organizations. Kori has a Bachelor's in Business and is currently working towards her M.A. in Non-Profit Management at Regent University.
Patricia was born in Annapolis, Maryland, but raised in Gloucester and is a proud mother of two boys. She earned her Associate's degree in Applied Healthcare Management in June 2010. Patricia has worked in the healthcare field for 7 years, where she has worked with people of all ages with disabilities.
While Patricia's main passion is caring for her clients, on her off days she enjoys spending quality time with her boys, gardening, kayaking, fishing, and shopping. She has advocated for improving care quality and outcomes as well as advancing developmental disabilities. She is excited to work with At Home Your Way to be able to help supply families with the resources to live a comfortable quality life.
Nicole, a native Virginian, has been a support to the special needs community for more than 3 years. She has tutored special needs kids in public school and in private settings. She focuses on math as a stepping stone for practical application and helping students use learned math skills in real life situations. Nicole strongly believes that building a trusting relationship with the kids she tutors, is the key to successful learning.
Nicole’s experience ranges from customer service to executive management. She holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a specialization in Project Management. She is the proud mother of a daughter who is in college pursuing her dreams.
Angela is a devoted mother of a handsome 16 year old son, who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. After learning of his diagnosis, she quickly realized that she had to become her son's biggest advocate. It was until Angela was introduced to At Home Your Way that she felt as if a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. She had such a positive experience with AHYW that she wanted to share her experience and the resources that were available with other families.
Ambar is originally from Los Angeles, California, having made her way to Virginia Beach after serving nine years in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Ambar was deployed throughout the world in support of the Global War on Terrorism and in humanitarian missions, providing relief efforts in the Haitian earthquake of 2010.
Upon leaving the military, Ambar went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and minor in Human Services from Old Dominion University. She is currently working towards her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California with a concentration in Military Social Work.
Ambar’s calling toward At Home Your Way was to advocate for families in need and link them to resources that will enhance their ability to live fulfilling lives. She considers it a tremendous privilege to work with an organization providing that service for families in Virginia.
Nicole Williams is native of Portsmouth, VA. She received her undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University in Communications. Nicole has one child, a son, who keeps her active and is the center of her universe. She has been working in the Human Services field for 10+ years and the Service Facilitation field for the last six. Nicole enjoys working in this field because it brings her joy in knowing that she is instrumental in helping people attain a better quality of life with her services, resources and knowledge. This position serves as the best decision in her career to continue helping individuals navigate the world of possibilities.
